Think a 275/50/17 on a 17x8 4.5BS would rub?

I'm looking at 17" wheels and wondering if a 275-50-17 on a 17x8 with 4.5 back spacing would rub. M&H says that the minimum tire width should be 17x9 for this size tire. Think I could get away with it on our Regals?

Yes they would rub the frame. You'd need about a .6" spacer, minimum with an 8" wheel.

Are M&H's Narrow for a 275?

Can you get a finger between the frame and tire?

the 275 were narrow when they first started making them, at 8.8 tread with, now they measure 9.5 like most other 275 tires. yes i can get a finger between the tire and frame. had to tap the body just above the frame for clearance in one spot was rubbing a touch on turns. this was minimal.

A 9.5" wheel that would make sense.

An 8" wheel with 4.5" BS and the tire is another .5" inboard due to the bulge.

I dont think it would that dramatic of a bulge, but there is only one way to find out. :wink:
