Was planning on heading there for about 4-5 days with my wife and kids (early teens). Did a little research and it seems that they are pretty long and mostly adult oriented. Is that true? What should I visit or do? What shouldn't I visit or do? Swim with dolphins? Southernmost point in continental USA? Looks like I would need a car to travel around a little. Any help would be appreciated.
Thinking about a Florida Keys vacation. Ca you guys help?

They are adult oriented. From start to finish. There are fishing charters and campgrounds but largely it is a party kind of region. Key West can be a freak show at night though it is quite historic and beautiful. Islamorada is more calm.
You should be able to get a good deal on a resort on one of the middle Keys this time of the year, as most of the "snowbirds" have gone north. Key West is waaaay more expensive than the upper keys, but something to see during a day trip. Be careful if you get a hotel room, I think half of them are over priced dives. The Chamber of Commerce has some good info, but sometimes they are looking after the businesses interest instead of the guests. Bahia Honda Key used to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Sometimes I use AAA to book trips and rent cars. You will definately need a rental car. Enjoy!
I lived there for almost three years as a deputy sheriff. I was so glad to get out of there! Orlando area is so much nicer. You can get to the beach in about an hour. If you want to go fishing, contact me, as my neighbor is a boat captain and runs charters. If you go with him you will catch fish!

Dont go to the keys with your family i found out the hard way there are a lot of "alternative lifestyle couples/people" that hang out there,im sure it not totally that way but theres a lot and not the best place for a family vacation i have nothing against people that jump the fence but you dont go to an import shop to get your buick worked on its not that you cant and its not like they dont do good work but you prolly shouldnt.....x2 on orlando lots more to do even if you dont wanna goto disney....
