Friday I drive up to Detroit MI to pick up my new turbo and some other items. On the way back, on I-75 crossing this huge bridge my 94 Blazer catches on fire. I have my wife and child on board too. Oil filter hose ruptured and sprayed oil all over the exhaust igniting a fire. Burnt most of everything under the hood. Luckily this guy that works for a fire extinguisher company passes by and stops. He backed right up to the truck and came out with 2 extinguishers to put the fire out. Flames were shooting about 10 feet above the truck. SO, there are good people left in this world! :) Make a long story short, we had the trucked towed to a motel, stayed the night, rented a uhaul truck/trailer and hauled it back on Saturday. Truck is way too nice to just junk because of an engine fire. I plan on repairing it and driving it.

The picture.....This is today about 1 o'clock....Here I am cruising down I-75 and my transmission lets go. I just installed my new GT6776 turbo a couple days ago. Great turbo by the way. Pulls real hard over the 52 I had.

I took the trans out today and getting it fixed thursday. Should be up and running again by the weekend.

Just thought I would share my misfortunes with everyone. At the same time having bad luck I guess I've had some good luck as well. However, I am going to stay in the house for a while until everything cools down. When it rains it poors.

Stay tuned...

I know exactly what u mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Sorry to hear about the Truck, glad the Family is OK. I am sure Lonnie will hook u up.

Ohio bound

Guys,

I hope that yall are going to the BPG Nats in August. I will be leaving Dallas Tx the weekend after the 4th and will be up in Cincy for a couple weeks working at one of our sites, then out to LA for 3 days and then back to Cincy for another 2 weeks and finally the BPG Nats. If you are down at Lonnie's shop during this time, I should be around there somewhere ;)

I talked to him today. He is hooking me up.

If anyone needs a trans pulled I'm very good at it! Got this one out in 35 minutes...new record by 5 minutes. I almost dedicated a toolbox with just the tools needed for a trans removal. ;) But I have them in memory.

The truck, well it needs a wiring harness and some sensors replaced...and of course a new oil line assembly going to the filter. I may bend up some steel tubing to run it through this time...haha:D

Yes John i will be there LOL, I was just glad to see u out of Lonnie's shop before BG. LMAO. J/K U mad some good passes at BG that I saw.

Glad that you were able to make lemonade out of lemons;)

Is your 6776 BB or journal bearing?

Thanks- I have the PT-54 and wnat to go bigger; already have a 3400 stall, so I figure that I could go journal and be OK.

The 67 turbo with standard bearing likes to have a 3500 stall, the ball bearing will be ok with a 3000 stall.
You should be fine with your convertor.

If its raining there, its pouring over here...

I bought my GN 3weeks ago. made it about 30miles from the previous owners house and it started misfiring like none other, turns out the crank pulley bolt started to back out and was causing issues with the crank sensor. Fix that and notice intake manifold leaking massive amounts of oil. went to remove manifold and found most of the bolts hand tight, after i got that all back together the car ran 100x's better with a whole lot less vacuum leaks. Then the EGR diaphragm tore causing more vacuum leaks, blocked that off with a block off plate. then I blew the check valve going the vacuum brake booster thus blowing the booster diaphragm and lost power brakes. And after all that i managed to blow the tranny, now im also waiting on a rebuild.
