Those that have replaced thier felt window strips...come inside

I'm changing both the felt strips on the passenger door and i'm stuck on the one for the inside panel.

I've got the old one off, but my staple gun won't even go though the new strip much less the metal of the door panel.

How did you guys put your new ones on? I was thinking maybe some kind of two sided tape or something? But i don't think it would hold real well.

I have always drilled holes and used short rivets - works perfect.
