Hey, lets get real here. $32k for an 11 second NEW car is an incredible bargain.
Gotta be careful there. Taking that modded 11 second Mustang in for warranty work and you'll get the "your warranty is NULL and VOID due to the mods".

I think the car looks great and I'm NOT a Ford fan.

That is not totally accurate. They cannot void your complete warranty because of modifications (Magnussen Moss Act). They tried that and I called and filed a complaint with Ford in Dearborn then called the FTC, which handles warranty issues & the problem was quickly resolved.
The A/C line that broke had nothing to do with the Vortech V2 S-trim under my hood and they replaced the line & recharged the system under warranty. I had a few other warranty repairs and most times, the techs wanted to go for a ride.

More importantly, the Cobra drivetrain is built to handle more than 11s so the likelyhood of it breaking is small. Also the mods it would take are not noticeable except for the exhaust sound. The pulley is behind a cover and can't be seen.

An A/C line is different than a "performance mod". The computer will tell the tech that a mod was in place, even if it was removed at the time of the repair. I'm not a Ford expert but only assume Ford has the same thing in place with their on board computers that GM does. The computer should log all erroneous changes to the engine specs, including boost after changing the pulley. You can argue with a computer log but I don't think the FTC will believe you over the log.

the answer to your original question raven, i love the way the 05 mustang looks, i don't care for a cobra, i just want the retro look, i'm a die hard GN guy and would never sell my gn but i sure as hell would'nt mind parking an 05 mustang right next to my gn:)

My point is they can only void the part that failed if they can prove that the performance part you added caused the failure of the part. Thats how the act works plain and simple. I had a supercharger under the hood and the A/C line was repaired under warranty because one thing had nothing to with the other. If the window motor burns out, do you think they can void the warranty on the motor if you have 2 NOS bottles in the trunk? Absolutely not. That was the point I was trying to make.

This was the quote "Taking that modded 11 second Mustang in for warranty work and you'll get the "your warranty is NULL and VOID due to the mods". This is totally inaccurate. Maybe on the engine, trans and rear and the burden of proof is still on them to prove the part caused the failure if you are denied a warranty claim for a blown engine.

Warranty

Well, we've gone off-track a bit here with the warranty discussion.

In my view, the warranty is a big plus for a new car - but it's not THE major reason I would buy a new car. It's nice to have but I buy a car/truck because I like its looks, its performance, or its functionality.

Buying a Cobra mainly because it has a warranty doesn't make sense to me. I want the performance the car brings; the exhilaration of grabbing second and third under boost and hearing that ungodly whine of the roots blower under the hood.

Not the fact that the car has a warranty that becomes questionable depending upon how or with what I mod the car.

And when we talk warranty, it's certainly a moot point on our TR's. ;)

One other thing - someone was complaining about how expensive the Cobra is; that $30k+ is too much for the performance it brings (I completely disagree). But how many of you remember the whining that many people did when they saw the price of the TR's and GN's? For a lot less money, a car buyer could pick up a Camaro or a Mustang but still, the GN's and TR's sold didn't they?

The same is true of the Cobras, Mach Ones, and will still be true for the 2005 iteration of the Mustang - they are popular.

If you have ANY doubt, check the sales numbers of the Mustang versus the F-bodies for the last year the Camaro and Firebird was built.

And if you have any doubt left, just tell me how many F-bodies were built THIS year.

Ford is still out there, building affordable, good looking and high performing cars.

GM is cloning imports and trying to convince us that it's a GTO. GM is trying to convince us that we only want a Cadillac for our performance vehicle.

No wonder Ford is winning the sales war. GM doesn't know sh!t from shinola when it comes down to what the car buyer wants.

The 2005 Mustang will sell, possibly breaking sales records for the model. Just wait and see.

Don't forget GM is coming out with the highly anticipated COLBUTT!

WOOOOooOOOooOOOOooOOO AHHHHHhhhHH!

Raven I agree. It costs a significant amount of money to build a car with those driveline components meant to handle alot of power. Also most people only look at straightline performance as the major factor which is a bit shallow.

The new mustang looks great(opinion) and it will come with the most hp for $25K which is probably a fact. You are 100% accurate with your statement. Ford gave the people what they wanted in the new Cobra & GT. This is why the Mustang outsold the Camaro & firebird combined by atleast 2:1 since the early 90s making less hp and still survives today. GM was trying to force the LT1 then LS1 down the throats of consumers in a questionable skin and it didn't work.

I would consider tossing my GN in a year or 2 while it still has low mileage and getting a new GT.
