is it ok to install my thrasher 92 chip on a stock GN without any other additions as long as I am not dogging it out?my scanmaster should be in in a week.I will not be racing it just daily driving.I also have a 237 fpr coming and a racetronix 340 kit coming.also with the 237 fpr ,will it do fine or shouldI have gone apfr?I don't think I would know how to adjust one if I had it anyway.once I install the chip won't it decide what fuel pressure it needs?I am so confused, the room is spinning.....

If you keep your foot out of it, you will be fine. The 237 regulator will work fine with the Thrasher chip.

For a couple bucks more throw in a 160 thermostat and then you sont have to worry if your foot is in it or not (once you get the SM)

don't install the thrasher until you get the 237. The thrasher wants that minimum. Not worth running lean (and possibly blowing your engine) so you could have a few more days of fun.

I'm in the same boat. I'd just wait to get the 237 on the car.
I also have a new 237 FPR to install, but I didn't want to put it in until I installed the Thrasher. The Racetronix kit is already on the car and I put in a 160 stat when I pulled the intercooler to clean it.
I decided not to install the Thrasher until I get the SM hooked up and can see what's happening.
I also have a test pipe to install. :D
I've been patient enough with the Mustang, another week or two to install a chip and test pipe on the Regal isn't going to kill me.
In any case, some baseline numbers are in order before I put on the 237/chip/testpipe. Hopefully this week...

how do you like the race tronix set up?easy to install, straightforward I mean?

You are a wise man! Something pretty basic to be aware of..... when you take off the old FPR, take a look in the fuel rail to make SURE you got the o-ring out from the old FPR. I changed mine out and (it's kinda embarrassing to admit it) I didn't notice my old o-ring was stuck in the fuel rail. "Geez this new regulator fits tight! I wonder if they're all like this?" No leaks. Set fuel pressure to 45 PSI. Fast forward about a week. Car has been running fine. Get in car to take it to the track for the first time. Start it up. Runs like crap. Real rich. Hmmmm? Change O2 sensor. Nope. Check for bad sensor wires. Nope. Gut cat. Nope. Finally throw fuel pressure gauge back on. 80 PSI!!!. Screw it in, screw it out, nothing changed. 80 PSI. Take FPR off. Open it up. Everything looks good. Then I noticed the old o-ring still in the rail. A chunk of it broke off and got stuck in the fuel return line to the tank, restricted the flow, therefore the regulator can't regulate. I took the line apart in a couple of places but never found the piece. When I put everything back together, it worked fine. 45 psi was attainable again. Soooo... I'll try the track again on Friday.:D I wonder were that little piece of rubber went?

GOOD INFO

take a look in the fuel rail to make SURE you got the o-ring out from the old FPR.

Thanks for the Good info Gregg as I am going to be doing my Pump & Regulator when it arrives.

I too am in the same boat as above. I bought a thrasher & was told not to put it in until I get the pressure up..

HOPE THE RAIN HOLDS OFF FOR NED FRIDAY!

Hey Steve,

I'm still planning on going to NED Friday night. Didn't get my cracked header fixed yet. When it gets hot , it seems to close up quite a bit so maybe it won't kill me too bad. Maybe I'll get it fixed this weekend. It depends on how I feel. Got a little kidney stone problem.

Your O-ring story sounds so familiar to me, although mine was the dreaded transmission filter O-ring. Half got sucked up and made it back to the pan, the other half disappeared. Hmm, why is my car shifting from 4th to 3rd and back on its own???

Two fluid and filter changes and a VB removal later...........ah, there it is, stuck in the 3-4 valve.

:o

I just want to say, man, is my car running good. I just completed the Powerplate and Big Mouth Cold air mods, along with TB bypass. Did a couple of 0-100 runs with 15+ boost in 1-2-3 gears, absolutely no knock, no stumble, perfect idle, T-link numbers look real good all around. Ah, it's a great Turbo day.

Now, what to do next???
