Throttle valve spring question, CK or others...

I am reassembling my BRF valve body with CK's kit. This VB had traces of a TransGo and Shiftkit already installed. 3's a charm, right? LOL.

Anyhow, when I removed the throttle valve, #302 on page 102 of CK's manual the spring #346 was not there. Nice picture on page 105 #6c-11. Instead, only light weight outer springs where in place (something from one of the prior shift kits for sure). The are two distinct springs, one a short heavy and the other light and a little longer. Page 109 talks about this valve sticking and hence the addition of outer springs. (BTW, looks like a misprint in the manual , page 109 refers the TV spring as #321 which is the accumulator valve spring). Page 110 show the spring CK supplies in the kit (I did not find one in my kit though) in figure 6c40. Again, I have two springs that slip over this like the pic #6c-40 shows, 1 short/heavy and the other a little longer but very light.

Now my question. Should I put it back together the way I found it? Or find a spring to put in place of the missing OEM? Obviously leaving the outer springs there.

If I should get a spring, where to get one?

Looks like a Transgo setup. I would suggest putting it back together as it is and see what kind of TV pressure control you end up with. The two springs are there to counteract the practically coil bound TV plunger spring. If you remove one of the two springs, you will end up with an increased ramp up of TV pressure to throttle position.

OK, thats how its going back in then. Is there anything that I should look for to determine if that setup is a problem. (once the car is driven of course).

TV pressure ramp up rate is tied to the throttle position. If the ramp up is too quick you can run into a situation where at 1/4 throttle the shifts are already spacing out too far and the shifts are excessively harsh for that throttle position and particular engine torque output setup. The preferred rate of TV ramp up is dependant on the torque curve of the engine. If you're running a setup where the turbo spools very early on in the rpm band, engine torque will be rising very quickly with less throttle input. In that kind of situation you want the TV pressure to ramp up quickly so that line pressure will be adjusted to match the torque input. If it doesn't, clutches and the band will not have adequate line pressure to prevent slippage. No one likes slippage. Slippage is bad.

This thing shifted very hard (too hard in my opinion), and had the direct drum clutches wiped out.

The combo of 4.1L, 2800 stall and GT6131E should have a pretty quick spool up I would think. I would figure a spring of some resistance in the OEM location would be bettery than nothing, but maybe the combo of the two springs does something close to what should be there? I was hoping to set it up exactly as CK kit is designed for, but without an original spring, that looks like it would be hard to do. I am hoping for the best. This is the first overhaul, and if someting does not feel right...I want to have an idea of the first thing to check.
