Thrust issue with turbo 400 ?

I have been reading about people saying the turbo 400 wipes out the thrust. Does the 400 need mods to avoid this issues or is it something that you just have to deal with when swapping over to a 400 ? I am looking to run a turbo 400 with reverse manual valvebody and transbrake. Thanks
