Since I have put a LOT of alky through mine and never did anything with the filter this is probably a good thing for me to read when he responds.

If you pour clean alcohol in your tank, never. Look at the bottom of your tank, if you see any trash near the outlet that will let you know whats in it.

It wont hurt to flush it out backwards every season as preventive. You can use brakecleaner and spray it backwards(against arrow) and backwash it.

Yes I understand to use brake cleaner for cleaning the filter. Do I have to clean out the brake cleaner from the filter before re-installing?

Blow it out with air or leave it in. Doesnt matter, it wont hurt the filter.

BTW - I was not worried about the pump not filter.

Since the filter comes after the pump I doubt it will hurt the pump.
