Don't get me started Coach, you are 100% correct. I have been watching my business dwindle down by this very thing. In the last 3 yrs. I have lost millions ( yes millions) of parts to out sourcing. All to China. And @ .50 cents on the dollar min difference I can't afford to compete. And they don't follow our standards and testing. Not to say that they are not supposed to.
 
Unions dont do ANYTHING wrong. Why is it bad for people to fight for fair wages and a safe place to work?! Its not the Unions fault that a 6 BILLION dollar a year company has a problem with paying fair wages , BECAUSE THE COMPANY IS GREEDY.

I will say that a LOT of people feel the way we feel about buying foreign stuff lately ... as far as I can tell, this is the most US support I have seen since I have been alive ... too bad things are twisting.

A lot of "foreign" products are actually being built HERE ... think of the auto industry. For some reason we move our stuff out of country to be built, and they bring their stuff into our country to be built. It confuses people ... do I buy a Toyota built in the US to support US jobs, or do I buy an American car built in Canada or Mexico to support a US business?! Hmmmm ... very tangled web we are in right now IMO ---

FKIN BS Union Thugs, Reps make money on nuthin but your sweat.. You Union guys in essance work for 2 companies.

When I worked at Post office I was non union. I got approached & told to slow my work down by the union member rep that I was making the regulars look bad.. If that is not the stupidist thing I have ever heard.

Yes! Unions did a lot of good to help workers.

Now we need an organization to stop unions from forcing the business owner to run his business the way the union wants it run.

Greed on both sides made the situation we're in plain and simple.

Are ther some good unions? Yes!
Are there some good companies to work for without union involvment? Yes!

We get the government and union greed and corporate greed out of the process too and we're golden.

advance auto, auto zone, best buy, circuit city, wal-mart, should really be called, chinese auto, china zone, china buy, china-mart, and the american businessmen that make a living off the lopped sided profits should be thrown in jail. Do you realize that 5 of the top 10 richest people in america are wal-mart owners.

I agree, but then if you did that someone would probably pull the race card.
 
I wish someone would pull the RACE CARD with me. Then I could take them out to the track and whoop their azz! :D

Well it really boils down to greed guys. To give you an example, retail corporate outlets like I work for. After you look at the way the pay scale is done you'll see what I mean. The store manager isn't paid much more than a normal hourly employee. Where they make thir money is in the bonus structure. If your business meets the quota then you make the bonus. If you can get employees to take low pay, you make a bonus. If you don't spend all the raise money that's alloted for your store it goes into your pay. This is for the store manager and up. Meanwhile what I'm paid right now is less than I was 7 years ago when I worked for the same company. This isn't right but it's how they do you.
 
I got royally F'd by two different local unions because I was "young" and could find another job. All I was trying to do was save up enough money to goto school :mad: now Im in a small woman owner company and LOVING life... sure the pay isnt as good but just to be treated with respect is shocking to me sorry but from my experiences F*CK UNIONS. ( my dad worked for sunoco for 38 years as a machinist the unions f*cked with him also when he got cancer.)

With the thriftyness of most Americans and the corporate greed for profit it'll never happen. Just my 02 and dealing with people in charge. It just seems like they don't care @ anything but how much money they can make on certain products.
 
Let me help you buddy. This may not apply to your union, but here is the just of it. If there is a union run shop and a new guy gets hired, he is low man. If he works harder and produces more than the senior guys, they get mad. The piece part price drops so now they all have to work harder to keep up with the new guy. Now the others are going to repay him by either threats, messing with his personal stuff, or even more server action. Dont even try to argue this because it is fact to all who made it thru the 60's-70's-80's union battles. In a union, you are part of a mass of people. You cannot be recognized as a good worker because you are the same as all the others. You will never get a raise from hard work, you get a raise when the union says you do. You are busting your ass and "Joe Slackoff" next to you is just riding out his last 3 years until his big fat retirement kicks in. That is what made large companies hate unions and why the relationships are such. I would never have prospered in my life if I had to rely on "Joe Slackoff" to help me make $$$. Lets not even metion the union dues. My girlfriend is in a union and the dues are costly and you get nothing in return. At one time unions fought for the good of the working man. Now most, not all, are so corrupt and crooked that you cannot avoid but be in trouble if you have to join one. My father has said for 30 years that the U.S. Steel industry would still be going strong if there had not been for a union. In 1977 he was making $22.00 bucks an hour and had 10 weeks vacation. He will tell you, it was great, but too much. The workers knew that the company could not afford to keep paying those kind of wages. He will also tell you , the union's demands bankrupted the industry and the Japanese steel makers saw this and went for the throat. They got it and when they did, the U.S. economy took the biggest hit it will ever take. Millions of jobs...gone, never to return.

And the overseas companies that manufacture here, take there profits back overseas. They are not recirculated back into the economy like our manufacturing $$$ was.

These are facts, not an opinion. Look them up.

I came from AZ "right to work" and YES, I have heard and DEALT with the threats " you are showing them we can do more than we do ... slow down " ... did I slow down ... NO ... so f'them. In a Union you are STILL your own person as long as you are man enough to "man up".

My personal union got rid of my company ... and replaced them with $10/hr MEXICAN WORKERS THAT CANT EVEN SPEAK OR READ ENGLISH. Luckily I got a replacement job in the same company. Is it because the company wanted to see me advance ... NO ... THE COMPANY WANTED TO SEE ME GO AWAY ( even after 10 years of dedicated service )... the UNION fought to keep me there , because I deserved it. I gave them HARD work for over 5 straight years.

These ILLEGALS were willing to take a 55% loss because they shared a single bedroom apartment with 5 friends ... and were going to take their profit back to Mexico for an even greater profit.

I understand for THEM, but I AM FOCUSING ON US ... YES US ... the U DOT S (U.S.) ... and I dont want it.

I am surprised most of you want a 7 BILLION dollar company to pay their HARD LABOR workers $12/hr.... c'mon ... most people can make $10/hr at their local fast food ( White Castle ) and work 1/10th as much with no health risk.

I run into a LOT of guys that want TOP pay and BENEFITS ... to me that is NOT fair. You have to prove you are worth it OVER TIME, and SHOW IT OVER TIME.

Tons of guys can work their hardest for a few years, that is just complete BS if you ask me.

This is just sad ... do most Buick owners work White Collar Jobs?!

Do you guys want to talk REALITY? Lets say its a Civil war in the US ... do you think your companies top 5% CEO's will fight for ANY OVERPAID management in their company... NO ... they will feed YOU to the Blue Collar workers. Blue Collar will easily win a war vs White Collar ... Blue collar has money, morals, and would be willing to risk their life... chances are they are 90% stronger physically anyway.

Keep fighting for the company you work for White Collar ... you act like it is YOUR money , its NOT ... and your bosses are just using you as pawns ---

Are you yelling at me or agreeing??? Im kinda lost. I work for a company where 50% of our General Motors work went to Mexico just last year. I feel your pain. China was the topic here...the other guy brought up unions. I still think they suck! The UAW and Teamsters have more than contributed to the downfall of this nation. I said earlier that not ALL unions were bad, but move to one of the big manufacturing states like Pennsylvania. We have more unions than you have Mexicans. I hope you are agreeing in general. I am not trying to make anyone mad. My beef is with China, not unions.

The only way to stop jobs going to China is by levying tariffs on China products so they won't be so inexpensive in comparison to US made. We cannont win a down spirl of our pay scale to make our product cheap as theirs. We have to make theirs more expensive. This was what Alexander Hamilton did in the 1790s. Tariffs were around for 200 years before Regan and Clinton took them away. During the time of tariffs we made everything here and had some of the best manufacturing plants in the world. Now try to find something made here. Blaming the workers for wanting a decent pay or blaming EPA rules that keep our air, water and land liveable are not the reason jobs go to China, it's the artificially low prices we allow and the greed driven profits. If the prices were closer together more people might buy US made, it would also keep busness here rather than going to China. BTW China has tariffs on our products.

I Agree with you on the tarriffs... We do make it too easy on them.

But still a percentage of EPA rules were a past reason companies went to China.

I will agree that for UNIONS they do help in some aspects of working in a place that could be too dangerous for workers & hold the company feet to the fire to improve saftey..

I still say workers wages should be tied to performance. I can still say worker A (excellent worker) worker B (sub par) get equal pay is ludicrous.
Personally I would tell the union to teir its wages into a range scale.
