Timing chain setup

Does anyone know how to set up a timing chain?, it sounds stupid, but I got an aftermarket double roller timing chain and the markings are not clear. Luckly I had the heads off and guessed the 1 cylinder to be top dead center and dropped the cam in. Its acting like it should and following the pistons actions, but I dont know if its advanced or what.

Thanks in advance, Oh and has anyone heard from Lee Thompson?, Ive tried emailing him but so far no response, has anyone else talked to him latley?
