I'm about to start putting my motor back together and thought I saw something floating around on this subject. I've searched here and gnttype and came up empty. Am I crazy, or is there a passage in the timing cover that can be opened up a bit for better oiling?

Also, is there an article that gives the proper oil pump clearances? I have a pretty new Melling high volume unit installed, but would like to just double check everything before I slap it back together.

Thanks!

all you do is open the main oil passages on the cover to 1/2in with a drill bit.

Nice post, haven't seen that one before.

By the way, don't just dive in and drill to 1/2". Smart way is to do it in steps if possible. I had a brand new front cover have such thin walls when I drilled it to 1/2", it drilled right through to daylight. Have a completely useless brand new front cover in my garage.

Liquid aluminum, good epoxy or JB Weld to the rescue!!

If it's junk I'll take it for shipping & a pizza! ;)
