Tiny rust spots on white paint

Every year, it seems like I have to spend hours rubbing and rubbing to get pin head sized rust spots off of the surface of my wife's white 2002 Buick Regal GS. The spots can be rubbed off with your fingernail, but a simple wax job doesn't get the job done. I end up having to use Blue Coral scratch remover to get the spots off. I was wondering if there is a better product for getting these spots off. Should I be using a clay bar? Is there a better polishing compound I could use that doesn't cause me to break by fingers rubbing?

Rail dust?

Is the car ever by train tracks? Sounds like rail dust.

Clay bar would do the job.

I'm not really sure what could be causing it. It must be something in the air because my new white Toyota Tundra exhibits the same thing after one winter. There are no train tracks around our neighborhood. The only thing I can think of is a foundry, but it is over a mile away. I wonder if iron dust is sticking to the paint and over the course of the winter, salt causes it to rust?

Ya, I would say thats a good call.

I've seen this before but it was rail dust.

Do you notice this around the house on anything?

I haven't noticed it on anything else but the two white vehicles. It sure is a nuisance to me since I like everything about my vehicles to be pristine. Luckily, it is mainly on the rocker panels and lower rear quarters.

I was told that the rust specks are from brake dust...Maybe the metallic compound found in brake pads.

Had a '97 Z28 white. Same tiny rust issues. Never found out what caused it. Clayed it about once a month with wax, and didn't get new ones.

Those Spots Are A Type Of Fallout Commonly Seen On American Cars From Mid West ,use A Mild Aggression Clay Bar And It Should Do The Trick Also A Good Wax Job After The Claybar It Works
