SignUp Now!Get you a jack like this. It tilts fore and aft as well as side to side. Stabbing a trans with one couldn't be easier.Typically its a fairly miserable 2 hours or so.
Getting it out is pretty easy. getting it back in is a pain. I use a motorcycle jack but its a really cheaply made one and the jack goes a little sideways so I have to make sure its facing in a direction that will help the trans go in instead of hinder it due to the angle.
Basically every time I do it I swear I'm going to buy a lift. one of these days I will.
Just removed mine today using a quick jack which raises the front of car 21”.
Also used a proper transmission jack .
Had to tip the transmission off the jack pad after lowering & slide out on the floor after removing drivers front wheel,
with my Hughes deep pan (2” deeper than stock). Luckily the PVC flooring on my garage floor allowed the transmission to be dragged smoothly & easily across the floor.
Needed a 2nd pair of hands to do, but wasn’t bad at all.
I have one of those, it worked really good. This weekend I am going to pull it. I am going to buy one from Harbor Freight...450lb capacity. Kinda looks like the one that XLR8NGN has from the back. It is made by Pittsburgh, like 140 bucks or something like that.
