Combo in my sig.

Last time to the track.... I locked as soon as it went into second... motor felt like it drops too much at the 2-3 shift....with the converter locked....

What do you guys think?

I am thinking about making me a momentary switch... to lock it up in second... and then letting it unlock at the 2-3 gear change... and then locking up maybe halfway through third..... does this sound crazy? .... or am I fussing about nothing....

I have read.... that the converter locked is worth up to 2 tenths... and 2 mph... but I am not sure for my mild combo.....

Anybody?

I was always under the impression (up to) .2 seconds and 2 mph .... but I am wondering if that is for a higher HP car..... mine is not too far from stock.

I agree with Russ. Most people I talk to don't lock the converter until the car is in third. You won't lug the engine nearly as much at that point.

How do you manually make it lock? I assume you wire a switch but which wires do you have to connect?

According to other posts I found.... you tap into the top two outside wires on the ALDL connector under the dash... down by the console.... and put a switch between them. That switch (when made) will ground the lock-up circuit... and once in second... it will lock the converter. I plan on making me another switch on a coiled cord... like my buddies transbrake switch .... and hold it in my hand and press it after it goes into third good... and try that.... in lieu of it locking as soon as it hits second.

Here is another interesting tidbit..... my boost spike during the shift went completely away... if I didn't have the converter locking right after the shift.....?? Anybody seen that before?
