Took off my 275 DR's and put the stock wheel and tire on just for fun

NOOOOOOOOO traction. :D

Just for the heck of it I put the extra set of wheels and tires on the GN today.

Just rolled on the pedal at 30 mph and lit the tires up. Second gear scratch is hard to avoid too.

Should be fun for a little while.

Nice, I can't wait to over power my tires once I can up the boost.

Had a nice drive this afternoon. Gota love these lug nuts on these cars. I need a new set so I bought some at the auto parts store and when I compared the two I didn't feel they where going to seat like the stock lugs. Took my rear rims off and put on the other set. I tried to make sure I got the center caps back on correctly. Long story short I lost one somewhere today.

They were original so replacing them is ok with me.

566rwtq will do that to you. You probably don't get much traction on the street with slicks either...

Actually the DR's hook up pretty well compared to the stock tires. I only run 18 pounds of boost on the street and the dyno numbers were on 24/25 boost. I bought the car the way it is and have never turned the boost up. I'm sure with 24/25 boost it would be a different animal.

Ah. Any reason for that (other than EXTREME reliability)? Still using the alky at 18 lbs?

Yeah still using the Alky. I guess I'm a little gun shy because I don't really understand these cars yet so I don't want to hurt the motor. I wish I had someone in the area who understood these cars better than I do to teach me a thing or two. I would rather just turn the boost up and run the car the way's it set up to run. If I can safely run 24 boost with Alky then thats what i want to do but the previous owner had it set the way it is now and I just left it that way. I'm probably just wasting Alky and horsepower now. Just playing it safe for now I guess.

Good enough reason. You have some good parts so someone put the car together well it seems. Im sure you could take more. You show great restraint running 18 lbs with that car...

Looks like you have a nice set up too. Once I get some more miles on the car and have some confidence in the set up I'll turn the boost up and let'er eat. I've replaced a few vacuum lines and buttoned up some odds and ends. The car sat for the last 4 years after a restoration that started in 2004. Since these cars seem to be very sensitive to vacuum leaks, timing and fuel I better get things lined out before I get too carried away.

Sounds like a BEAST! I would love to have my car almost identically built like yours (mechanically) for the reason of reliability and being able to use pump gas...any complaints with your setup? I'm not looking for a 9 second missle, just a fun street car.

No real complaints at this point. I wish the tranny didn't shift so damn hard under light acceleration but it's the nature of the beast I guess.

It's more noticeable with the DR's than the stock tires. The stock tires chirp in 2nd and third so they're taking a little of the hit. The DR's stick and my back takes all of the hit. LOL

The turbo car is fun but a lot different than my other cars. The power is gradual and then keeps you in the seat. I have 78 Trans am with a 461 stroker and all the goodies, another 78 Trans am with a 474 stroker and all the goodies and finally a 68 Barracuda with a 416 stroker 4 speed with 4:10 gears. The Cuda is a beast, mid 10 second car. When you mash the pedal in these three cars it's all in right now. However I don't think either Trans am will run with the GN from a roll. My Barracuda would embarrass it in the quarter the way the GN is set up now and probably with 24/25 boost as well. But you can't cruise the Barracuda 70 mph with the A/C on and get 20 mpg either.:D

Sounds like you have an awesome collection! Thanks for the info, I can't wait for mine to be ready :D

Mine does the same thing. Light driving at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle it gives a little whiplash. I'd rather that than it just blow up when it shifts at WOT tho.....
