Torque Converter ID

So I bought a torque converter off a board member a while back that he said was a restalled D5 to 2800. I've had it sitting in my garage for a while now and was going to install it. I looked at the stampings...and it just has a 6 stamped all the way around it. Does that mean there's no way this could be a restalled d5? Is there any way short of installing it and brake testing to find out what the converter actually is?

Anyone? Id like to know whether or not I should install this...

At this point all you can do is install it and see what happens. With "6" stamped on it it's obviously not a restalled "D5" but who knows what's inside it.

if i were you i would junk it and buy something new. that way you are absolutely sure you know it's good and what you want and not going to empty anything into your trans that shouldn't be there...........that's just my opinion.

Ya...I'm probably just going to put my stock D5 back in just in case....but does anyone even know what kind of converter it could be? I can't find anything on the net about a 12" converter marked with just a "6".
