 i just had my transmission rebuilt. when i started driving it ,it seemed like it was hung in gear or something. i took it back to the guy and he unplugged the torque converter lockout switch and we went for a ride. it did fine w/the exception of higher rpms. he said i could leave it unplugged and that would be the only down side(higher rpm). but another guy told me i will burn up the tranny if i don't fix it. i have not drove it since and will not till someone can tell me something. thanks for the help. car is 87 gn and 200r4 tranny.

So let me see if I understand this. You had someone rebuild your tranny. The TCC isn't working properly so his only remedy was to unplug the connector on the side of the tranny????? (the one that also tells the ECM what gear you're in)

The proper reply should have been "yes sir, we'll get right on that and find out what's wrong and fix it".

What was this, and AAMCO shop or something similar?

BTW, you won't burn up the tranny, but it will run hotter, and will require more frequent service intervals, etc. until you get his "fubar" fixed.

Tranny's are supposed to work when they come out of a shop. And if they don't said shop isn't supposed to find "workarounds" that defeat important features, they're supposed to fix what they screwed up.

thanks

i was told that that was not part of a tranny rebuild. i feel some pressure behind me:eek: . sounds like i am getting f@$%. i think i will do that ,myself . thinks for the help guys. the way i see it gm paid someone alot of money a year to decide that it needed that switch and i shouldn't let billy down the street tell me it is not necessary. thanks again.

Damn right you are getting , whatevered.....

Take it back now. Not part of the job my asss. That is crap.

Don't forget to remind him of this when he says it is back for warranty cause it was overheated.

If they cannot remedy this, let us know and we will see what we can do. We will send them the bill... :)
