I had my torque convertor cover off today looking for my oil leak (found out I have a bad rear main seal and oil pan gasket was over tightened) and I was looking at my convertor on my rebuilt tranny. I was not able to see the numbers near the snout since its still atached to the flexplate but on the outside of the case there were "7's" all the way around. Does this mean I have a D7 instead of a D5? If anyone has a spare one could they please look and tell me or if you are under your car and have a known D5 does it have any numbers on the outside? Also if I do need to buy a d5 where can I get one and around how much? Thanks for your time!

My converters said 5D 5D 5D 5D 5D......
all around the outer perimeter. I'd say you'rs is a D7

At this stage in time, the numbers are probably relatively unimportant as the converter may have been replaced or reworked. What really matters is the stall speed. If it will rev to 2300-2400 against the foot brake, or more, it is fine. If it goes to 1700-1800 before it refuses to go higher or the rear wheels begin to turn, it is the wrong converter, imo.
