Could you multiply the value on the Inch pounds wrench by twelve to get foot lbs??? For example, If I want 20 Ft/lbs, would I need 240 inch/lbs??? Or does it work another way??? Thanks!

Scott (trying to make use of my little torque wrench):D

You have it exactly backwards in your first sentance...divide inches lb wrench value by 12 to get foot lbs. But exactly correct in your second sentance.

12 inches per foot...so 10 ft lbs is 120 in lbs, 20 is 120 etc. Ie multipy foot lb by 12 to get inch pounds...or divide 12 pounds by 12 to get foot lb.

Think of a bar 2 feet long with 100 lbs pushing down at the end...that is 200 ft lbs. Because 2 feet is also 24 inches it is also 2400 inch lbs.
