Stories of turbo regal toolery youve encountered.
Heres a couple...
Guy ask me to look at his GN, very clean example I might add. Hes coming over and calls and said his car stalled about a block from my house. So I go check it out and he says, it started missing, makin noises and smelled hot but the temp light never came on. He was right.... I could smell it from 20 yds away. So I pop the hood and the lower radiator hose is not even hooked up!!!
And went on to tell me he drove for 20 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic that way and wondered why it started missing...and hes sure he forgot to hook it up after working on it.
So he says he wants to put water in it...i recommend against it to let car cool off before adding. He puts the hose on and.does add water anyway and it sounded like a blacksmith quenching the whole engine. Well needless to say the bearings were shot as well as headgaskets.
Guy finally got it running again (towed it home). Saw him making a pass a few months later and he would bounce the car off the rev limiter like 8 times in first...run 20 plus psi on 93...and kept blowing engines....hmm.....fail

Another guy I ran across running at a track i was visiting. Guy had a nice GN and the car would come out the hole hard and the start popping and all kinda nonsense and would stay in it like that the whole pass. Caught the car in the pits with hood up and was shocked what I saw. No hose on wastegate or compressor fitting ..just open. Guy had a wet NOS nozzle plumbed in the up pipe...hole was too big so it in there up to the y on nozzle and had a tie wrap strattling the y and around uppipe. Explains the popping and engine failure shortly after...fail

Putting in gas one day and a guy about my age approached and said, "Hey, I used to have one of those....except mine was a diesel!"

I used to work on a bunch of these cars when I had my shop. One day this guy comes in with a 6000 mile GN complaining about engine noise when he hits the gas. He takes me for a ride, floors it and the thing detonates like nothing I've heard before. I almost hit him when I told him to let out of it. He says it's done that a bunch of times, too. Typical broken wastegate line.
