Well after much ado.......the TR legend to visit Rich's Auto was none other than Mr. Ted A himself. When Ted called last week and said he was making his way up the eastern seaboard and asked if he could stop by to see Rich's Auto in person who was I to say no. Word spread that Ted A was going to be here that another TR legend a one Mr. Artie Paltz decided he too would like to come down and shake Ted A's hand and share in a cup of fellowship. We had a nice dinner and Ted was nice enough to provide some help with a car we were having. As you can see by the pics Ted asked for a stethoscope, I said why Ted my heart is fine, he said I have mastered these cars over the years and I become one with the car and just from listening via stethoscope I will tell you what is wrong. Why Ted listened to the tires is beyone me but I was here just to watch and learn.
Ted also while he was here wanted a picture with the famed Rich's Auto event winning trophy The Ronny.......we can't afford a real Wally the NHRA gives out so we had to improvise and $20 bucks and a lawnmower wheel later this is what we came up with,
Here are a few pics with more to come as CVS develops them and scans them to a floppy disk for me.......Enjoy.

I hard a hard time missing this event but as it was Good Friday and my parents were stopping by I had to pass. Ted A is like a god to me. I have actually helped him and Paul tweak his car at BPG events...I was just a small part in his legendary status, but I did move a few fans and and provide lighting when he was thrashing on his car...I also held the funnel when he added trans fluid after swapping out a converter in the pits. Oh I also gave him a bottle of water....

>>> Sean it's guys like you with the deeds you performed that make up the heart and soul of this community, where would Ted have been that day without you? Hotter because fans were not pointed towards him, working in darkness with no fluid in his trans nor himself.
All I can say is thank you Sean for your support of the community.

I am just a mere vessel to promote Buicks...I have helped in many small ways to the Turbo Buick Community ... it is the least I can do for those that have helped me...

Since Ted A is banned from here asked me to post this. I went to my mailbox today and had the nicest Thank You card in there from Ted A, so I decided to transcribe and post here.

Rich and crew at Rich's Custom Auto:
Thank you for all the hospitality while I was at your shop. I frequent a lot of shops and yours by far is the most organized I have seen. You should be proud of your collection of Buick parts, each of them seem to have a special place in your heart, and I can relate to that because I have boxes of parts here down at the shop that are part of our racing history, from a washer welded to a piece of angle iron to custom one off CNC fabricated aluminum brackets for the LSX projects we are working on today. Artie Putz it was a pleasant surprise to see you speed up the driveway after leaving work early to hang out. Although you race a Chevy powered dragster today, you still bleed Buick.

Thank you for the great deal on the NOS dew sweeps, the customer was very happy with them, we installed them today. We are planning another swing out east this summer and plan on stopping back by. Glad to be a member of the JCC you guys have been great friends.
Sincerely,
Ted A. AKA S2V6RACER

Here's a few more pics from Ted A's visit here last week.

As you can see in the first pic I was showing Ted that we at Rich's Auto have both.....regular screwdrivers and phillips head screwdrivers and as you can see Artie is utterly amazed at the variety of tools at RCA.

In the next photo Ted was amazed we had an air gun and as Ted said alot of shops are still using wrenches and 4 ways and to have an actual air gun is a sign of a first class shop.

Next Ted moved on to setting the suspension and the RCA mini wheelie bars and as you can see Artie is in utter amazement and was heard saying in the background...."No wonder this guy is a TR Legend, he does suspension too, amazing"

Ted then went on to set the O2's on this car by sticking an O2 sensor into the tailpipe, while plugged into a shop vac, as you can see Artie was amazed how Ted did it using a shop vac #1 and #2 the shop vac wasn't even plugged in.

Once the O2's were set Ted said we need to confirm spark and I pulled out the coli pack tester and handed to Ted and his unconventional ways. I like Artie was a bit taken aback when I saw Ted hook it up on his nipples. I asked him what the deal is and he said "Richie much like the Karate Kid I have to be one with the car and by feeling the electro pulses going thru me I will be able to tell if the coil pack is good, if my nipples tingle then I know I have a good coil pack". Well Ted's nipples were right and we had a good coil pack.

And lastly what visit to Rich's Auto and the JCC be without an interview and Ted was only too happy to oblige and answered each and every question. It was good to see Ted bless our shop with his time and needless to say I learned a few things about how to tune from Ted.IMG_0755 resized.jpgIMG_0758 resized.jpgIMG_0759 resized.jpgIMG_0760 resized.jpgIMG_0761 resized.jpgIMG_0765 resized.jpg
