Just curious if anyone has traded or considered trading their GN for a Cyclone and if you did, did you regret it and why. I've always been a fan of the GMC Cyclone and would someday love one. My car is clean, I mean really clean and have a lot of money invested,"but", would I be crazy to consider trading for a clean clean Cyclone?
Sorry I did not know where to post this.

I have nothing against a Syclone but I'd never trade my GN for one…but if you really have to have one, save more money and buy one while still keeping the GN!

I have considered it, but for me, garage space is tight. My wifes car and my Buick. Outside, my Tacoma. :(

I actually considered a Typhoon before my GN. I decided against it for a number of reasons (Primarily the allure of the GN). there just seemd to be such a limted selection of them for sleae in the quality I wanted. I also thought the engine compartment was too small, I felt I would have to take the whole engine apart to do anything. (little did i know about the GN Sparkplug #6 haha). I also thought I wouldn't like how it rode. Full disclosure I have never worked on one, nor even driven one so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I bet the Sy/Ty guys love their rides and have some good stories about their allure as well.

I echo what Claude said. Save $$$ buy it in addition to your GN. Envision selling your car and having remorse after a year. You would have to start all over again with sorting out a new GN unless you were lucky enough to buy yours back.

Cheers!

Thats funny because I've already sold it and bought it back once. Hehe!

Well... I guess you were lucky to be able to buy it back!… It might not happen every time though… Keep your GN! (y)

Claude. ;)
Yeah, I pulled my receipt's. Just way too much $$ invested to consider it.
Thanks for keeping me in line Claude.

I love the Syclones. For me though I could just never own one. I've owned 3 S10's or Sonomas of the same body style and once you sit in one, you've sat in all of them. Owned 4 Turbo Buicks and they keep me coming back.

Keep your gn.

The GMC Syclone is a nice looking and performing truck but i would never trade my T-Type for one.

Keep the GN! I like the Sy/Ty's and 90's GM trucks in general but I hate the cheap ass gray plastic controls on the dash, it's cheap and it looks cheap. I know our TR's have there issues but they look way better interior/dash wise than these vehicles.

I traded my first GN for a brand new Syclone back in early '92 when the prices dropped. Added a chip and some octane and ran a 13.20 @ 103 mph. I've had a couple more Sy's since then. Fun little trucks.

4.3s have bottom end issues. Plus the engine compartments are super cramped.

ACH=full]298021[/ATTACH] Now wait a minute.... I think you helped talk me out of doing something similar a couple months ago. Just save up and buy a Syclone. Then we can be Turbo Brothers, and S10 Brothers . Without seeing this Syclone, I would have to assume that the value of your car is more than the value of the Syclone. Now just add your personalized plate here^^^^ and everything's cool....
I can already see it..."NOCLONE" just sayin!!

As many readers know I have owned a Syclone actually the actual one GMC used in their promotion and it was on the cover of Car & Driver magazine....

Truck has its good points and bad points.....

Gotta be a short guy as seat adjustment is not much. My wife drove it as an every day vehicle....loved it....

When the turbo went out the labor rate to replace the turbo was more than the turbo. Space to say the least is cramped under the hood. Stock wheels at best are ugly and stay ugly.

It does several things well....example a super sleeper as most people do not realize what it is. Case in point:

My wife and I one sunday am was coming back from breakfast and passed the near by air base parking lot where a sports car club was running a obstacle course with their porsches and the like. We stopped. I inquired if I could run my little truck through the course?

I had never run a course like this for time. I ran it lst time came in dead last...no one paid attention to my Syclone.....after about the third or 4th run I had worked my self up to second place behind a Porsche.....at that point interest had picked up as they did not realize what kind of truck it was....

A fun time.....

license plate read ZR1 KLR

truck was number 18.....picked it up at GMC headquarters...had 9,000 hard miles on it....truck ran great.....

on the down side....and I am sure most would agree 86-87 turbo regals notably GNs are far more valuable when compared to a simliar Syclone....also GNs and the like get far more respect and recognition.....

they are a very rough riding truck....doors do shut a heck of a lot better than the Turbo regal doors do....

I've owned my GN since '92 and I owned a Typhoon for a few years. The Typhoon was fun for a while but like others have said, it was a pain to work on and when I did, I didn't enjoy it. You know how you enjoy tinkering with the GN? It's not the same with the Typhoon/Syclone, in my opinion. They don't take to mods like a GN and you'll never get the street credibility with it the way you do with a GN. Most people will think it's just mini truck with a spoiler kit. Everybody drools at the GN. If you can find a way, keep the GN and buy the truck. But never, ever sell the GN to replace with a Syclone. My Typhoon is gone but the GN is still in the garage. No disrespect meant toward SY/TY owners, it's just my opinion.

Well Robert I'm glad you came to your senses, that's a no brainer ,Nothing against TY/SY owners but on a beautiful Saturday and you are
out cruising in the G/N how many (y) do you get ,do you think you would get as many(y) in the Typhoon or Syclone ??. It's kinda like a
SS camaro owner having ideals of maybe trading it for SS TrailBlazer ,and having second thoughts as well. Buick is in your BLOOD !!!

I know 3 people who sold their Turbo Buicks. All three have told me that they made a "mistake" in selling them. And neither is in a position to buy another now. Glad your keeping yours. Mine's a "keeper", as like others have said already you just don't get the attention you do in a GN with other 'semi-modern' muscle cars. Even non car people seem to know about the Grand National, it's just an iconic car that will always hold it's value and street cred.........
