When I put the car in OD or drive after its been in park it gives a hard clunk sound. Come to thik of it i think it does it in every gear? I have been told it might be the U-joint. Is this possible?

It seems to me that a lot of our Buicks do this....I know all mine do. And I've checked the universals.

I've come to the conclusion that it's the pinion/ring gears in the rear. They wear faster than normal because we get on it so much....lol.

At least that's my belief....anyone else got any ideas?

I don't own a TR, but my 85 SS did this when I had the TH350 in it and with the 200-4R in it now. Universals are fine, so I am also leaning towards something in the rear. My 84 SS has no clunk.
