Hi,
What's wrong with dexron III? It works good in my 200r4.

">>>>>>Five or six quarts<<<<< of Automatic Transmission Fluid. I recommend Type F fluid for heavy duty use, since it actually will make the transmission shift a little firmer. Dexron III can be used for purely street driven cars. If you do choose to use Type F fluid, don't worry about it mixing with Dexron III that might be in the transmission. It won't cause any problems, and the Dexron III will eventually be flushed out as you continue to change the fluid with Type F."

well thats the 1st time i've heard 5 0r 6 quarts.. I thought it was 10 quarts with like 1 quart in the convertor.. Not sure why its so hard to find out how much the tranny holds?? Maybe just put a lil in there an just fill by the dip stick. :frown:

hum

Not exactly going to be plowing the field here.. Some may use this but not me.. Looks like type F may be the route i'll take.....

Its a better fluid than type f or Dexron III.....Cheap too.

Kinda like RMI 25 that was made for diesel trucks but is used in MANY TR's thanks to Nick Micale.

Bruce and Chris both recomend 424 and theyre in the top 3 200r4 builders so ill stick with there advice.;)

For a street driven/ sometimes raced car I like just plain Type F. But for a race car that sees a lot of trans brake launches it's hard to beat tractor fluid. Not hydraulic fluid but hydrostatic trans. fluid. That stuff sees some high pressures and heat without negative effects.

I'm not sure if all 424 is the same but I have used Case IH Hy-trans plus just like what we used in cotton pickers and combines. PTC here locally recommends it in all of their high hp glides.

I'm running Type F w/ two bottles of Ford rear end limited slip additive thrown in (don't get any on you , it reeks ! ). I find it shifts a little firmer/quicker than the Dexron .

tractor fluid

No problems here on the tractor fluid, used it in the t-type. I've seen it runs a little cooler than the type f fluid.

just my input, but who cares about that.im just an nobody, hahah

I have actually used 8 quarts of mobil 1 5w-30 and topped it off with Dexron with great success. This was in a ford Taurus after a rebuild and I believe Gil younger at Transgo recommended it. Don't know what advantage it has but it works. I typicaly just use good ol' dexron III since I change my fluid a lot.
