I had some problems when I installed my new aluminum radiator with the tranny cooler fittings leaking. So I had the tranny line brazed to the fitting, I threaded it in and put on some rubber hose with clamps and I have no leaks.

NOW....how long is this going to last? It's been on there since mid summer. I heard some horror stories about tranny fluid eating away at the rubber, yet most external tranny coolers use rubber hose. what is the best way? I really cant replace the tranny lines, beacause of the leak problem on the radiator and they are a bitch to get off the tranny ( it's a TH-350)

Any input/thoughts are appreciated..

Mines been on 14 years (Kenne-Bell cooler).

One of the hoses is original.

I changed the other hose out last year when I put a new.... errrr used radiator in the car, had to remount the cooler to it.

By the way I also used the strap things through the radiator you shouldn't use too. ;) No it didn't leak there.

Mount the tranny cooler well and the lines won't flex and crack and shouldn't get stressed in any way. Same with the tranny lines in the car. Keep the mounts secure, no flexing rubbing.

Not an overly high pressure line either.

Just my .02 over the years. :)

salvageV6,
Thanks for the info, I should have been more clear I dont have an external tranny cooler, it's the radiator/tranny cooler combo deal. But what you said about the lines is what I wanted to hear :) sounds like I'll leave em on...thanks again.

Yeah I understood your application.

Same fluid same temps. and pressures.

A cooler goes inline with those connections anyway same deal.

Most shops, mechanics, fabricators and bench racers will not like the rubber hose, be forewarned.

The car don't seem to care much. ;)

Compression metal tube fittings could also work in your application. :)
