Hey guys, I'm dropping the pan and servicing the tranny tomorrow. 2 Questions:

1) Should I use RTV on the gasket surfaces?

2) What plug kit would you recommend I put on the pan?

Thanks!

pan

No rtv on mine, used a cork gasket. Got my pan plug kit from JEGS in your neighborhood (Broad St in Columbus). Crossover pattern and several passes to torque to specs... NO LEAKS. Be sure to hold plug mount when you loosen to change fluid. :D

Kewl thanks Dan.

Do you know the part number of the piece you picked up by chance?

plug

Bandit - Jegs' number vnd# 130 part# 80250. It is a B&M 80250 "automatic drain plug kit" I paid $6.69 3 years ago. Step three cautions on removing plug. Mine is installed on the left hand rear bottom. When I change fluid the car gets jacked for best drainage
p.s. I was @ the Buick show in a show in Dublin (Len Imke / Arthritis Foundation) Sat. were you there? Are you going to the BPG meet in Salem OH Aug 12 - 15? :D

Thanks again Dan!

No I didn't make it to the show. I was guess what, working on the stupid car!! :D

Yes I will be in Salem for the BPG nats. Hopefully racing, but I'll still be there even if I can't race.

As for placement, by left hand do you mean driver side as the pan sits on the car?

I was thinking about putting it on the side of the pan so I won't have any problems with the tranny sitting in tranny saddle on the jack.

We use fiber gaskets and absolutely no silicone exclusively in all our work. They won't squeeze out and cause a leak later on.
