tranny seems to be shifting mushy

i can't tell if i did something wrong or not i took my car for its first ride and the trans seems to be shifting mushy i dont remember how its supose to feel but it dont feel right things that have been changed are removed artcar 19930 torque converter and installed custom billet pts converter stalls to 5300 on trans brake at 14psi and i put a .400 boost valve in other then that the valve body has been down and the check ball was put back in the same spot it was removed from other then that i dont know whats up mabe its me mabe the converter took the hit out of the trans it shifts fine on the gas let me know what you all think
