tranny skipping 2nd on shifts...

Now my tranny is skipping 2nd gear when it shifts. When you ease off it will stay in 1st and will not shift unless you get to about 4K RPM and then it goes right into drive. and sometimes you have to let off the throttle to get it to do that.

Time for a rebuild or what?

Band broke

or anchor broke. Or servo problem but I would bet on band.
Yes, it is prolly coming out.
