Trans + and LS1 MAF but blow through

For every one % reduction in intake tract plumbing, you can gain 2% in HP. Huge gains?, no, but the MAF will now compensate for the I/C getting heat soaked, since rather then just sampling under hood air temps., it now is actually sampling the air temp of the air entering the engine.
Just do enough 1% items and they add up.
First thing, if you are planning on using the 3.5" MAF, I'm not sure if there is enough room. I had clearance issues with the 3" MAF...
I bought a 90 deg bend of mandrel bent exhaust pipe to use as the up pipe, since you've got to do some cutting to give room for the MAF..
I got two 3" x 2.5" hose adapters to mate the MAF to the throttle body and to the up pipe. And it was a real beyotch getting those things on the MAF let me tell you!
Then there wasn't enough clearance between the... it was either the IAC or the MAF pipe, I forget which, and the MAF sensor, which required a plenum spacer to move the throttle body up some to get the needed clearance.
When that was all said and done, the plug of the MAF hit my hood liner. Didn't seem to hit the hood, but it did leave a depression in the liner. I asked Bruce about this, but he said he didn't have this same clearance problem. My engine mounts are relatively new, maybe my engine sits up a little higher? I dunno. But that issue alone made me revert back to the way it was. Which was a shame, because I liked the way it drove. I'm convinced it is a superior set up, just a tough fit. If I had a front mount and that long pipe from the IC to the throttle body, it would be a lot easier going...

That's why I refered to the article for the specifics.
Seems strange but we've got 3 cars around here, done just as I outlined, and they all clear.
It sounds like maybe your MAF to Throttle body hose is too gradual in reducing diameters. Did you look at trimming the one hose to get the MAF closer to the TB?. Mine clears a 4" MAF pipe and the close spot it the large clamp for the 3" piece of hose on the MAF.
FWIW the adapter hoses I used were from PT+E
My son and I both run the blow through setup I have a Hemco upper which gives me the height I needed on my son's car with a stock upper housing we added a 1/2" spacer so his would clear the MAF pipe. We had to put the Maf sensor so the connecter pointed down toward the turbo instead of looking up. no problems with hood clearance doing it this way. Both cars run smoother no times yet
Maybe you can look at a couple of pictures and make a suggestion as to how I can get this thing to clear. I didn't think about trimming the adapter hoses. I did think about rotating the MAF 180 deg so the connector would point down instead of up, but I seem to recall some other clearance problem with that, although my memory is a little hazy on that one. Here's some pics. The last one shows the indentation in the hood liner.

I don't have my LT1 setup yet but I was wondering if you could just hook up the maf right off the intercooler to the up pipe, instead of doing the up pipe to the TB.
Just looks like there is alot more room for it to fit and I could still run my RJC plate without the spacers, which they recomened NOT doing, HTH

Looks like a neat set-up. Do you guys have any problems with the hoses blowing off with high boost?
larry, I looked at that orientation as well, didn't work for me. The looks are a little deceiving, there really is more horizontal room than vertical room if you get my drift. Less room to go up from the IC than there is to go front to back.
Now if I had a front mount, and a nice long pipe from the IC to the throttle body, it would be a slam dunk!

Can you rotate the MAF pipe so that it isn't at such an unward angle?. that looks to be you biggest problem.
Also flipping the sensor over to that the connector is on the turbo side, pointed down, will give you more hood clearance.
You might look at trimming that TB to Sensor hose.

JDEstill, after looking at your pics. it appears the MAF sensor is setting on top of the MAF pipe. I have a1/4"of space between the TB and MAF you might want to check this as Bruce suggested this will let you rotate the MAF 180 degrees counter clockwise. I also had to lengthen the leads for everything to hook up, my translater is mounted on a bracket attached to the PS tank,other than that it looks good. I do love that bright compressor housing. I would like to add one suggestion, a little off topic here. But, I would suggest moving your translator further away from the coil pack/module. It's not a "hardened" enclosure, and may very well suffer from EMI/RFI, and could be a source of agrivation.

I uninstalled everything a while back, I'll try it again sometime since I did like the way it drove. kenny, when you say 1/4", you mean there is only 1/4" between the lip of the MAF and the lip of the throttle body? Did you have to cut down your adapter hose to get that? Sounds like what I need to do.
As for my compressor housing, admittedly it does look nice, but it's not my elbow grease that did it. You'll have to ask Art F (joyof6) about it, since it is his old turbo. Someday I hope to get this thing going as fast as he did The turbine housing coating is from Polydyn, it seems to be holding up pretty well, supposed to be good for 2000F. At the time gold was the only color they offered that was that stout, unfortunately.

JDEstill, yes 1/4" lip to lip that should pull it back from being over the turbo inlet just enough to put the connector on. I'm running a 65 mm Tb so I didn't have to use a stepped hose. The sons car needed 2 stepped hoses for his stock TB which we trimmed until he had enough clearance. I'll try scanning a pic and see if I can forward it to you . Good luck
