Trans Break Install

How easy is it to install a trans break? Can you do it yourself or does it have to be done at a shop? Does anyone have any feedback on these things pro or con? I had one given to me and was just wondering if it was worth installing.

Trans brake installation...

Ray, it depends what kind of trans brake you're talking about. If it's the "Stage-Right" type, it is about the same job as installing a shift-kit, but if you're talking about the "Bat Brake" sold by Performance Transmissions, I would recommend that you have it installed by a transmission expert...I had mine done by Erik Schertz at Dynotech in Manville, N.J.
The Bat brake is more expensive than the Stage-Right, but it is much easier to "cut" a good light with it than with the Stage-Right. I know, I tried both...

I agree,if you bend that tab in the shifter pushing the stage right forward it has to be fixed to use it again.It takes some practice to not slam it in gear from excitement at the line.If I could do it over again,I would have gone the electric T-brake way.

"sixgun86gn" you're right!. As far as bending the tab in the shifter though, you don't have to slam the shifter that hard!!! A firm push on the handle is enough! !...As for the trans-brake being "user friendly", the electric ones are by far the easiest to use. When you get to the line, you have enough on your mind when you got to stage the car properly, crank up the boost, watch the tree come down, try to "cut" a good light and then you have to worry about pushing that shifter exactly at the right moment ....That's too much for me! I'd rather stage the car, press the trans-brake button, and release it when the light turns green, enabling me to focus on the 'tree to "cut" a much better light than with the "Stage-Right" unit.
This is only my opinion though...
