Trans cooler flow

Can somebody explain about how much fluid goes through the cooler when the trans is not in lock up? On the street we never race in lock up(opps we don't race on the street).

from what i have found at a cruise speed 60 percent unlocked

So that won't burn it up around town. At lock up it's close to 100% to the cooler? Just trying to understand.......
