Hello. I've got the trans out so now I'm sending the convertor in to PTC to bump it up a bit. Best I could get this summer was a 7.39 @ 101.89 with a 2 second 60. With that MPH I know I should be quicker, so, with a bump up I think I should come out of the hole a bit better. Right now is a tight 2800, I'm thinking of going with 3200, does that sound right? I'd like to get to the low 10 range to 9.90. Current boost is 21.5 making 680 ish RWHP. (Haven't dynoed it after AC getting reinstalled)
Thanks

How much rpm drop are you seeing on the gear change? This will determine how much stall you can gain on the bottom without giving up too much up top.

What size turbo was it?

Thanks Dusty. My rpm drop is about 300-350, and, the turbo is a billet 6765. I'm atleast 10mph faster them most guys running that same 1/8 time with a half second slower 60 as well. Car was consistently 101-102 1/8 never made it to a 1/4 this year.

With that little rpm drop there is no way to loosen it. What rpm is the car shifting at? What rpm and boost are you launching at? Something seems weird here. It should be very easy to 60 1.60-1.65 with this combo unless you leave from an idle.

Anything over 2 psi at the line and it will spin. Car shifts at 5800 and there was 525rpm change. The lag from 2-10 psi is what kills my 60.

Maybe slap a trans brake in the trans while its down and then its boost launch city and no need if worrying with spin or tweaking the rear backing plates. BTW its sounds like a nice setup you have there. Good luck, Dusty will get you fixed up

525 rpm drop is still a little looser than I like to see but the mph is there so it's not much of a concern. Loosening it for a better launch will not help. I'd say your converter is looser than 98% of people running my converter and it's easy for them to 60' much better. You have some serious suspension issues or the track is like ice if you can't leave on more than 2psi. This past weekend we were testing a car similiar to your combo and leaving on 10 psi on some easy passes and still went 1.42. What kind of suspension mods do you have? This is where your issues are at.

Stock suspension thus far, just some KYB's, that is also part of my plan for the winter. I've never been able to hold 10 psi with this car even when it was mildly worked. Well at one point Bison was thinking I was driving over the convertor and suggested a 9.5 N/L as now i'm running your 10" L/U as it IS MAINLY a street car. Cal and I spoke about it at one point and he felt a restall may help for me to build a bit more psi at the line. At any rate, it was sent out to you yesterday, let me know what you feel I should do....

Thanks for the compliment!

I'm considering that as well, I thought Lonnie had said it was kind of a PITA with a column shift? Can't remember for sure though...

At your power level I assumed you had the 9.5 already. The 9.5 will help because I can get it looser down low without giving up anything up top. Only thing to do will be trade in the 10" for credit towards a 9.5. Sounds like you have a brake issue though if it only builds 2 psi before spinning. Most will build at least 4-5 with average brakes. PM me your contact info and I'll let you know more when I get the converter.
