In an attempt to isolate a thrust bearing(motor) problem, I would like to check trans pressure.

Can I 'T' the top line on the trans & hook up a 0-200 psi guage?

If not, please advise the proper method to check the pressure.

Thanks.

____________

I have a Jimmys trans with a PI 7 disc lock up. I have lost two thrust bearings in 200 miles. First motor was toast. The thrust was at .100. The crank even started hitting the caps. Oil pressure was OK, I just happened to notice the dipstick was black.

Second motor, with brand new GM crank(bought it two years ago)had super black oil after first oil change at 100 miles so I dropped the pan. There were some metal shavings that never made it into the filter, so I dropped the thrust cap & found some pre-mature wear. Metal/metal friction must have overheated the oil.

Yep...

That would be a way.
Under 65psi in cooler line you are ok.
