trans temp guage

anyone running a temp guage? im thinking of running one but not sure on the install. any advice:frown:
Buy the gauge, and mounting pod(or however you want to mount it.) You'll have to tap into the trans pan and have a bung welded to it. Follow the instructions that come w/ the gauge. Pretty easy install IMO. Just make sure whereever you put the temp gauge, that it doesnt interfere w/ anything else!!
Mine is grounding on the shift linkage bracket causing it to read 250 when keyed on! Got to do some modification to the linkage now

so i assume yours is a electrical? what would be required for mechanical?

Thought I needed one. Installed it and haven't ever seen the temp over 180 (with cooler under the RF corner). Good info to have for a baseline, but I think I'll do something else in its place eventually.

Like cabech984, I put a bung in the side of the pan (pass side, 1/3 of the way back). All wiring, except for the signal, comes from a distribution block that I put on the back side of the glove box.
The gauge is in a dual pod under the radio with a water temp gauge.

nice! I like that setup so is that a mechanical guage and were did you get the fittings?

so you just soldiered the wire to the fitting? Is the guage pretty accurate with that connection?

Yep...was thinking about drilling a small hole and attaching the ground via a bolt but really no place to drill...so opted to just solder the wire to the brass block...been that way for about 2 years now...not sure how accurate the temp is because I have nothing to compare it to...all I know is in my experience AutoMeter guages have been very accurate...so I'll assume if it's not right on...it's damn close...
