Hello Everybody,

Brand new to the forumn and to the 2004r user crowd. I just installed a
2004r and with it a 3000 stall (non-lockup) from TCS. I have driven it only a couple times and noticed that the trans seems to run hotter than I had expected. I am running a trans cooler with a 1000cfm fan and with the fan on continuously, the temps are around 200-210 in town and 180-190 on the freeway. When I climb a prolonged hill the temps really start to climb. Is this something I need to try and fix or is this normal for the trans and converter combo? The temp sender is in the pan and I am using an autometer gauge. I checked the pan temp with an infrared temp gun and they were right at the temps on the gauge so I have to believe the readings on the gauge are correct. Car weighs 4000lbs, 3.73 gears.

I think the temps are suppose to be between 160-180* i read somewhere.
mine be around 160 in short distances in town. it start climbing higher at the track around 180-190 last year but i let it cool down for about 45min between passes. but i guess it depends where its mounted, i think mine is in the wrong port in stead of like its suppose to be in the return line port i think. but where i got it is reading fluid temp so im satisfied for now until my sender tears up then i'll buy another and put it in the proper place, i have 2 coolers in series with each other, i bypassed the radiator.
