I am tryin to figure out what is too hot for a street driven tranny? Mine runs about 180+ or so on the street and in heavy traffic today it got to 210 for short periods (2-3 mins). I turned the fans on high and put the trans in neutral while waiting at the lights but I am thinking I need to get another or a larger tranny cooler. Any advice?
Right now I have a Fluidyne FPH-10029 which is 18x8.75x1 and is different then most coolers I have seen.
Is 200 too hot to be running consistantly? I am using MobilFluid but am thinking I am going to pick up another cooler of the same size and type this week to put on. Can the trans be too cool? They will both be in front of the rad and the coolant temps have only gotten to 190 once for a few minutes but generally is in the 175-180 range.
FYI, this temp is the outlet temp before it goes through the cooler. I have dual fans and an external oil cooler with a fan under the battery. Thanks!!
