Transmission making a whining sound

There is a whine coming from a transmission that I installed in a customers car. The trans only whines in gear not in park or neutral. The whining noise also appears to go away with rpms. The trans shifts great I am just concerned with the noise.

Judging from your description, sounds like it may be a bum torque converter. Is it new/rebuilt?

X2 on converter noise, it happens, I've had that happen with GM replacment converters back in the dealership days, only option is to replace converter and check pan for debris, clean as necessary(might even need to flush valve body if contamination is extensive).

Sounds like a bad converter. My Pats converter did the same thing. I sent it back and they replaced the stator bearings. They also inspected everything else and put in new clutch lining.
