My wiring woes continue since the engine rebuild. Altho I did fix the tach. My mechanic or someone, had plugged the tach connection behind the alternator into the fuel pump primer connection...
Anyway, when I got the car back the TCC no longer engaged nor could it be forced. I checked the wiring and found a broken wire in the loom from the transmission up to the firewall. It was the green and white wire. I repaired it, but still no TCC lock up. That should have been the 3rd gear signal, but it still doesn't work--no lock-up and the 3rd gear signal is always "on" in Turbolink. There are four wires in the plug that goes into the side of the transmission. Looking at the wiring diagram I only see three wires, light blue, tan/black, and green/white. The plug into the side of the transmission only has three live connections and one dummy. There are four wires in the connector that plugs into it, as follows, top left: Purple, top right, light blue, bottom left Tan/black, and bottom right, green/white. It's a one-way connector, because it has the retainer clip on it. The holder on the opposite side is on the top of the part that the connector plugs into. But if you plug it in that way, the green/white wire is in the dummy position and doesn't go into the trans. And what is that purple wire anyway and why does it go down there?

trans side:

connection--connection
_____________
____________
connection---dummy

on the wiring harness side:

purple--light blue
_______________
______________

tan/black--green/white

If I rotate 180 degrees I have

green/white--tan/black
_________________
________________
light blue------purple

This puts the purple, which doesn't show on the wiring diagram, in the dummy position, but does it put the other wires in the correct places? And how can I secure the connection into the connector? The clip and holder are no longer together--they're on opposite sides of the plug now. And how could this have happened? The trans was rebuilt, but I'd driven it for a few weeks and it worked fine. TCC locked up and everything.

Any help appreciated.

Keith

OK, well I found out what the purple wire is. It's the ground for the TCC lockup. But the green/white wire still goes to a dummy connection (no pin, solid plastic wall so no place for a pin).
