I keep getting a "com port error".

After I click on the powerlogger icon, it will pull up all the menu screens and everything seems to be fine, but i'm not getting connected to the ecm apperantly. I also tried hitting f8.

This is my first time install with powerlogger, I have experiance using and installing the older direct scan.

I'm using a laptop with xp. I have succesfully downloaded the updated drivers.

My laptop is recognizing when I plug or unplug the usb from the ecm. but its not getting any data from it

I have tried moving aroung the interface around a little bit (in and out) to see if it will connect. the car had direct scan and worked fine, so the glue from the board has been removed.

and yes, the ignition is on.

You need to go into your device manager and open Ports. (when hooked up to PL). It should show you the port number that is assigned to the PL.

You then have to go into PL on the F3 screen, and make sure to tell it what port number to use. Near the upper left of the F3 screen.

thank you turbodave. I'll post back this evening (when I'm with the car), with my results.

got it, working fine. thanks again turbodave

I hope to get the wideband 02 installed sometime next week, but first I need to get my IAC count down. it was at about 130. I was able to get it down to about 86, but am having trouble.

the car has stock engine except for 206 cam, and lots of bolt on stuff. (this is a friends car I'm helping tune). The car is warmed up in park, I am making the tps and iac adjustments a little at a time after shutting off engine so everything can reset. all vac hoses are new and zip tied, car idles nice and smooth, no exhaust leaks (that I can hear). it ran high 11's a couple weeks ago with no tune.

when I was trying to set iac it was raining, the car has slicks on it so i didn't want to drive it around, but if i remember right, i remember reading sometimes you have to drive the car around a bit after adjusting to get the iac count down. (i'm keeping the tps in the .40-.46 range).

it has a tt chip
does anybody have any suggestions for me? tia
