troubleshooting question

i have an 87 we4,i dont drive it i got it a little while ago,anyway when you start it up it runs like ass and the check engine light is on if you let it sit for about a half hour running the light goes off and it runs fine WTF??

Do the old paper clip in the ALDL trick and check for codes. It has to be throwing one.

Use a paperclip or wire to jump the top two left hand pins in the ALDL connector under the radio. If you're not fimilar with this, visit the link below.

i tried that,the code dosent come on untill the car starts and runs for like a minuete,its not there unless the car is running

i tired my code reader again and its putting out code 34 map sensor.... is that a vacumm
