Chris did a great job with the rules last year so i dont doubt they wil be right.

i will be one of the guys running to the fence to watch FUR SURE
 
Chris decided to keep the rules discussion between the people who participated in the point’s series. I organized and administered the Norwalk event but since I didn't have a car this year I don't get a vote in the rules discussion. I know there are rules up for vote that I don't like but I'm not crying about it. I support Chris's decision and I'm sure the rules will continue to be fair for all and in the best interest of the points series.

Are TSM,TSE,TSL, rules done offline and if you have no vote like me how do you know about certain rules (that you don't like). The problem with this class has always been the same, we do to much paper racing yet the fastest legal TSO pass has been a t4 flange, stock type heads so again I have to ask why is the discusion offline

First, I don't see any significant changes to the current rules that would impact a racers car and combo. If your car was legal for the Top Gun Point series last year, and not in the "grey" zone anywhere, you likely won't have any issues in 2008. We are however dealing with a few rules that police the current rules we already have in place. One in particular, that is probably of interest to you, is how to police the turbo properly so we have a maximum HONEST turbo size of 88mm. RIght now we are looking at the GT4788 to be the largest allowable turbo in the class.

The decision to keep the discussion among Top Gun Point Series racers is an obvious one if you ask me. They are the guys who raced the class and are going to have best input on what direction we should go. It is my understanding that in order to have a say in the GSCA rules you must have participated in at least the last two GSCA HU events. The Top Gun Point Series rules discussion has nothing to do with BG rules what so ever so I'm not sure what TSE, TSL or TSM is doing.

If someone has an opinion or suggestion that didn't race the point series last year I am certainly all ears and if you have a valid point I would consider posting to the group so please feel free to e-mail or send a PM.

BTW Otto, I can't help but notice your signature. I believe the Legal TSO Top Gun Point Series record holder is Ted A with a 8.485 ET and top MPH of 163.31. I'm not sure about the GSCA TSO record but I'm pretty sure that would hold true there also. Other than Indy and BPG I'm not aware of any other organized TSO events and no one ran close to that at either of those events.

I like Dave and Tony and not to take anything away from their accomplishments but I would call what they did in testing "outlaw" trim and not a true record. It's one thing to put up a big number in November on your home track but is another entirely to do it in competition when you are teched and weighed and everyone is running on the same track. With how Dave is running though I do expect to see some records fall next year:eek:

You use a recognized by your series record,That spot Ted A. holds FUR SURE.

But Dave Fiscus and Tony Gomes are stand up guys and they were both TSO legal,Wether at an event or not,They went that fast and quick in TSO cars,So as far as I see it,They are records that a TSO car went that fast no matter who it was,where or when.
No one is saying you need to recognize it.
 
Looking forward to competing next year, I have a fresh bullet ready to go. Building,driving and tuning it but not owning it!!!!
 
Last I knew yours was legal for BG, so you will have no problem unloading it this spring and mowing down the field one by one and securing a REAL TSO record, especially with your testing at the last track outing you did. Congrats BTW, I am happy for you guys. Great job.

How would you know what my combo is have you seen it ? As Far as mowing everybody down Dave has that wrapped up because he beat EVERYBODY at 8.90- 9.00 now at low 8s with slicks Whos going to take it. Have you got another 5 mph in your combo does Joe have 6mph does does Chris have 4 mph does Jack have 12 mph you see where i am going Right ? I went to the track last weekend but if I tell everbody what I ran you know whats going to happen then

Tony, I found out about the rules discussion in the same manner you did. I'll have to call BS is you try and convince me that Dave has not told you, Otto or Cal about the rules email that was sent out by Chris. Did Chris send me a copy? No, just like you, Otto and Cal didn't get a copy. Did my friends send me a copy, yes, just like I'm sure your friend did. If you didn't get a copy then you should speak to your friend about it.

If you intend to race next year in the TSO Points Series then put on a legal turbo and race. If you put on your old (mid-frame?) 88 turbo or put on a 47/88 like what Dave used in the points series then you should be fine. Just make weight for the turbo and heads and there are no problems.

The Points Series is obviously different than BG and as such things are done differently. The decision was made to have the rules discussion off the net and I don't see anyone but people that didn't participate in the Points Series whining about it. If you have concerns about the existing rules then contact Chris, I don't know what to tell you.

I haven't personally seen it since you put the legal TSO 47/88 turbo but based on Otto's logic you were legal so I'll just go with that. Do I have 5 MPH? I am running low boost in comparison to what Dave was running so apples to apples, I see it happening if the TA heads can flow the air I need. I don't know who has what left in every bodies combo, other than what I know I have left in mine and if we don't turn anything up but ramp in the power sooner and leave with more than 6psi we WILL SEE 8.30's or 8.20's. With only the few hits on the combo, I am very happy with the engine Dan built for us and how quick it threw down a number AND won the race.


As far as what you ran last weekend, I'm sure it was good, nice cool fall air, I heard Englishtown was -600 DA anyways, but you best keep that to yourself because what matters is what you do on race day next year.

Tony, it appears you (and Otto) are trying to create drama where drama doesn't exist. If you have a combination that can take out the competition then show up in legal trim and make a statement. You make a good point, no one knows what combination you have so I guess any number you put down only means something to your bunch of friends. I think Ted breaking the long held TSO legal record (set by Dan S. long ago) at his first outing with the new combo says a lot. Just like no one knows what your new combo will run or what its potential is, you don't know what Ted's potential is. Maybe Ted was running on the ragged edge of his combo, maybe not, guess next year will tell. Same holds true for the other competitors. Sounds like a lot of “paper racing” to me, everyone should just keep their combo's to themselves, show up next year and settle it on the track. With the big numbers that have supposedly run I better really be on my game at the lights cause there is no way our combo is going to go low 8's. And no, there is no way I'm going to find 17 MPH but I still plan to show up, race and have a good time.

Like I said in a previous post, if whatever turbo you have on the car is equivalent and not larger than the 47/88 Dave ran in the points series this year then you should have no problem in tech next year.

Call bull****,But i heard nothing from nobody about rules till Ted posted above.
Chris had asked me at Cecil what i was up to and I told him I would not be racing TSO.
So I hadnt expected to hear about them anyway.

Otto,
If you spent half the time working on your car that you do jawing on the internet we would be talking about how you set the TSO world on it ear with record setting performances.

Seriously, I hope all this competitive spirit shows up next year, it should be exciting.

One thing I can tell you guys is you won't have to wait till Feb or March for the 2008 rules. I'm hoping to have it wrapped up by mid December so if anyone has anything to comment on or add let me know soon.
