My 87 GN is stock other than walbro 340 hot wired and adjustable reg. I was wondering if I should buy just the chip for stock injectors or if I should upgrade to 42lb injectors with that chip. What would I gain from the bigger injectors?

Also could someone explain to me how a wastegate works and what the advantages of an adjustable one would be?

If your going to get a new chip IMO you should go ahead and upgrade the injectors if you plan on modding the car your going to need more fuel if for no other reason they are 20 years old....think about your goals with the car and match the injectors to your end goal....no reason to "upgrade twice" save yourself some $$ in the long run......

Injector size depends on what other mods you want to do. The more power you plan to make the more fuel your engine is going to need. I would replace the stock injectors regardless now that they are 20 years old. 42lb injectors are fine, that's what I run, but most guys say if you're going to buy new injectors just spend a little more and get 60lb injectors that way when you add more mods and make more power you won't have to worry about needing bigger injectors again.

You won't gain any power directly from bigger injectors. Don't expect to feel a difference.

The wastegate controls your max boost level, having an adjustable wastegate actuator will let you run higher boost.
