what are you TTA fanatics doing 2 preserve the rims...?? and are they true aluminum...???

sprays ,clear-coats,polishers..ect..???

me...fanatic 2 be

Well they have a clear coat on them from the factory. So I just use some spray detail on mine. Don't use anything harsh or try to polish them or you'll wear the clear off and have all kinda problems! I also use a light wax maybe twice a year. But if they are in good shape the spray detail and a good microfiber towel should keep them looking great! Keeps mine nice and shiney like you can see HERE! :)

Your wheels look really good. I do pretty much the same exact thing. Just apply wax about 2 times a year to the lip and then spray detail them about every other time I wash it. Mine stay pretty clean but it's always a pain to get the fronts clean after a nice long drive.

Yea those spokes are a b!tch. I found a brush that is pretty small and fits in there but it is a PITA! I think the wax 2x a year and quick detail should keep em clean! I still have the factory barcode sticker on all 4 of my rims so that's always as pain trying to get around them so I don't knock them off!

I just put a set of reconditioned wheels on my TTA, and like you, I'm interested in keeping them nice.

Gofastbuick suggested some of that one step liquid car wash (I don't remember a brand name) and then using compressed air to dry the wheel. I was thinking about trying that. What do you all think?

Off subject but philly six is that a magnet holding on ur door decals? cause the guy i bought my car off of had the same thing, he had the decals made into magnets which could be stuck on or removed from the door whenever...

And on subject, MAN are those rims SUPER CLEAN!!!

phillyturbosix......your missing something....

you need one of those hood insulations with the insignia.... ;)

For a car that pretty i think im gonna have to agree with rex. The hood insulator would seal the deal...

i could use one also....

maybe we should put in for a group purchase ...see what johns performance could do on price...uh?

Stop molesting my car you animals!! :p  I fight as hard as I can to stay away from those sites that carry aftermarket stuff for the TTA. One could go nuts! And broke! And enjoy doing it! :)

lburou: I think that is really over the top. I'm known for being anal and doing some crazy stuff but that really sounds weird! Some light wax twice a year, And Spray detail inbetween should be more then fine to keep them looking nice..

I'll tell you guys the secret.. microfiber towels! DO NOT use terry towels or any other cloth (IMO) on your wheels. The clear coat is there but thin. Anything other then microfiber towels will leave tiny scratches in the clear. Then over time it gets worse and makes them hard to clean! A good microfiber towel and you'll be fine! :) Don't forget you have brake dust on there and that can cause real fine scratches in the clear on the rims. I soak mine down with the spray detail.. then use the microfiber to get it off. You see the result! :)

macatoni: Thanks for the compliment! and Yes those are the magnet decals. It's nice.. take them off when I don't want to be a pace car.. put them on when I do want to be a pace car! lol  I like them allot. They are a little more white then the color of our TTA's but hey.. what can ya do. They were 75 bucks for the pair from a fine fellow on the boards. Can't beat that!

If you guys get a group deal on those hood insulators you might be able to bend my arm enough to get one! :p Just don't let FlyinGN know.. he'll kill me! :) Keep me informed!
