Well, I went to my mechanics house for my tune up today. We did a complete job and fixed alot of problems. Cylinders 1 and 2 are burning oil, so that means a valve job. The vacuum lines to the EGR valve were all messed up; fixed that and eliminated alot of pinging. Then we found the secondaries weren't opening on the carb causing a VERY lean condition ( every plug was bright white). Took care of that and that seems to have helped out alot. If feels stronger and sounds alot healthier that it di before, if you can call a 307 olds healthy:rolleyes: . The tune up helped, but i think bweavy will be getting a regal sometime soon. Oil pressure is very low, and that cant be good. I hope this thing holds together till February. Then I get my GN:D .

Any thoughts?

TIA

Bweavy just got my NA Limited.. :D

The Olds 307 motors always ping, No real way to get rid of itcompletely.

As far as low oil pressure, mine had the same problem. When I got it, I did an oil change, and noticed the filter media had broken away from the filter mounting plate. Noticed when it got hot, the oil light would flicker @ idle.. Ther was rod knock when RPMs were increased in Park, never knocked under load. I pulled the pan - the crankshaft was worn heavily. I tried to get out cheap and just replace the bearings, didn't help much at all. I decided to live with it - and started using Lucas oil stabilizer - fixed the oil pressure problem. THen I drove it for 3 more years like that, and Brian's guy drove it back to MD from FL. :)

I *hear* (Never tried it) if you set the timing @ 22 degrees advanced you can get some pep out of that motor, otherwise it's a waste trying to make them fast. You can put a set of Olds 350 heads on it, the biggest problem with that motor is the heads.

Basically, pour some Lucas in there and don't worry about it, the car will last.
