Just want to make sure what i am doing isn't going to cost me a head gasket or more:eek: !

I was having a problem with my car bucking/stuttering and losing power up top. So after adjusting fuel and spark up down and all around, the only way i can get some top end power and no bucking/stutter was to drop fuel down 9% via the chip, and up timing about 22/20 around what an alky chip has. Iv got the alky knob on 4-5 anything more the car bucks and stutters up top.

The cars mods are in my signature, not much there, i have added a gutted cat. The chip is a 93 street chip. Iv talked to Eric and he confirmed with me a couple times that the only difference between alky and street chips are fuel and timing and to play with that. Boost is at 20, fuel pressure at 43, and rising under throttle to around 65+, 02's up around 810/820. What do you think will dropping that much fuel with the timing set where it is, along with alky knob setting hurt me?

Do you run a LS1 MAF? I had a interference problem with the Alky kit and MAF , I got a hotwire kit from I think Julio for the MAF not all cars have this problem but mine did after the hotwire kit all was good.

O2s of 810,820 is kinda rich , if you add some boost or take some fuel out and watch for KR . I think on my 93/Alky set up I was in the high 700 like 780 with no knock, now on my E85 runs richer like 810-820s

What kind of MAF is on the car. An oem one or reman?

What are BL numbers as you idle and drive around?

If boost is 20 and fuel pressure is 43=63.. not a lb more or less. If you see 65 PSI fuel.. something is wrong with your data. And you'll be rich at 20-22 PSi.. that is normal. If you let iut ride out to 110-115 MPH, you will see it come down.

Change the O2 to an AFS20 AC Delco, new plugs gapped to .030-.032, make sure the MAF is working correctly, turn the alky knob to 6. 4 is low.

Every car is a puzzle. Need to get the basics done.. work on it from there.

The mass air is original. As far as fuel pressure goes im not sure on the exact number, Im trying to remember back about a week ago. Car is down due to a fusible link issue. I just remember that fuel pressure was rising with boost and it was in the 60's. Im going to throw some new plugs in it, its actually due for its spring tune up. Ill go ahead and replace the 02 as well. Do you recommend resetting the chip to its original settings? Then turn the knob to 6?

Probably wont be a couple days or more till i get to this, so when i change everything ill due some test runs see what happens and report back with bl's and air fuel. Probably a stupid question but do i check af with the car at wot?

Thanks for the time guys.
Dennis

I have fixed more popping and sputtering issues with a new set of plugs.

Yes.. reset the chip, FP at 43 line off, alky on 6.. BL's at idle and cruise 124-132 preffered.. if so.. should run 800-820 for O2's at 85-90 MPH WOT.
