tuning issues........

ok, i went to order a turbo tweak chip (cause i need one) and it says it has an open loop idle feature for smooth idle. But, my car wont idle in open loop. runs rough and will die, until it goes into closed loop, then idles smooth as glass (sorta). so, what do i look for? i obviously cant order a chip till i fix whatever is causing my problem. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
