Ok, I have done the research and have decided to put one in my '85. I know I will hate life at the gas pump and it is going to suck. But, I can't afford a rebuild on the stocker right now. I don't really drive the car all that much either. I am dead set on running a turbo 350.
So here are some of my questions if you guys could help me out that would be great, thanks.
What year BOP short tail turbo 350? Does it matter?
What year crossmember out of what year cars running what tranny?
How does it work with the stock shifter and linkage?
Would a good working used turbo 350 work or should it be rebuilt?
What convertor for the turbo 350 would work best with my setup(mods in sig)? Could I get a used 350 and throw the proper stall on it without damaging the tranny? Would that hold up?
What is the best route to go............find a junk one and have it rebuilt or find a good working one, throw it in and see how long she last? I just need some ideas of what to expect from a stock used turbo 350. Thanks much, all help is appreciated!!! I got a guy here in WI that has good working 350 for $100. Seem like a low price for good stock used one?
Sorry for the book. -TIA, Nick.

Ya, I am in that thread  I forgot all about that thread thank you. Ok, so crossmember question is answered.
I was really just hoping to get some advice weather or not to go with a used tranny or a new rebuilt one. Does a chevy torque convertor work with the BOP trannys? and hook up to my 3.8? I know nothing about trannys, so all advice with this swap would be great.

Thanks, Nick.

350 converters do use the same metric 2004r bolt pattern.i would not install a used junkyard trans in anything unless it was an absolute emergency.the bop 350 will bolt right up and be sure to hook up the passing gear cable or it wont have detents.

So, could I use my stock convertor if I needed too with a turbo 350? Or an aftermarket 200r4 or turbo 350 or turbo 400 convertor would work. I was looking around why do the 350 and 400 convertor seem cheaper?
If you got a link to a nice information website, I would really like to read up on the BOP 350 trans. Thanks for help Chris!!

-Nick.

It has to be a conv. for 350/400 as the splines are diff. & they are cheaper because a 200 has a cutch for lockup.

With the ta-49 look for a converter in the 2,600-3,000 range JMO ;)
