Hi, hope I'm in the right forum. I am not a Buick Turbo guy but acquired a complete engine including computer several years ago at an auction. Is there a registry that will tell me what the engine came out of and most importantly that it is not stolen. I have no use for the engine and would like to sell it. How can I get some idea of its value? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Value depends on what year it is, wether or not it's stolen is another guess entirely. We'll start out with the basics; if it has a carb, it's pre-83, if it has serpentine belts with FI it's 86-87 and if it has V-belts with FI it's an 84-85. A good 86-87 motor will probably fetch over a grand if it's running and good condition/low milage, an 84-85 will fetch 5-600 probably, and you're lookin at a couple of hundred for a carb'd unit. IMHO the carb'd unit may get you more money parted out, as these have a special crank/pistons. If you're interested in selling, I'm sure you'll get a few PMs dropped to you about it. If it was an 86-87 and I had bread, I'd probably drop you a PM.

Thanks Drac,

IIRC its a throttle body FI (they didn't use any port FI on these did they?). Can't remember the belts. Its in storage and I need to take a look at it. I had hoped there was some online info on the numbers. I have friends that are LEO and can run the numbers for me. Thanks again.

I just saw some Bosch injectors for Buick Turbo on Ebay so maybe I'm wrong about the TBI. Its been quite a while since I've seen it.

They never made a TBI Turbo Buick engine. Anything 84+ is port injection. For pics of motors and casting #s check the gnttype.org web site.

engine

sent you a PM,
just want to let you know I'm interested in making an offer, once you determine your asking price.
thanks
