A guy decided to come over into my lane coming the other directing and offer me some free body work...

The old girl did me good.

I am working with a 88 Camaro witht eh 2.8 as well, I am curious on the trans adapter and arrangement.

Which adapter and what about the starter, any issues going from the 3.8 to the 2.8 trans? Or did I misunderstand?

A little more info and/or pics on how you kept the AC using GN heads? I have a spare motor laying around that I might do something crazy with.
I have to run custom A/C lines but that isn't a huge deal. I used an 87 GN compressor.
I will post some pics when I run my lines.

an update

hey guys, its been a while since i started this thread, but I thought i'd give everyone an update.

So far I've picked up a 109 block, heads and rods, new pistons are on order, and a new cam. A local machine shop (klotz automotive machining) is boring the block 30 over and rebuilding the heads. In terms of the transmission, i've heard that the 700r4 that came in the camaro will not work properly with the buick motor (somthing about the gearing and valving is wrong) so I'm in the process of locating a 200r4 to swap in. (I've found a shop that will modify the tailhousing to adapt to the torque arm of the camaro. So far things are going pretty good, sorry no pictures to show, but there will be soon.

I'll keep you guys posted as my project starts to take form.

He sells a Torque arm setup that will bolt in so you wouldn't need to have the tranns adapted for the arm, it uses the crossmember as the mounting point. He has great products!

Hey everyone I'm new. I have a 1990 firebird with the 3.1 V6 and was thinking about a swap for a hot air or an intercooled on my f-body. Apparently its been done a few times on here. So I saw some things about the 700R4 being used on the buick 3.8. I thought the bellhousing on v6 f-bodies was different than the bellhousing on the 305 and 350 f0bodies. So which one are you able to use (the v8 700r4 or the v6 700r4) with the adapter plate?

Been out of town working, sorry havent been keeping up

On the Tachometer, the white wire which comes off of the original V8 coil, splices into the white wire closest to the firewall, on the new V6 coil pack on the GN harness.

I used a Transdapt for the 700R4 to fit the 3.8 Got it from Summit Racing for about $50 but there are 2 of them!! The 2nd one is about $80, dont get that one. there are too many probs with it.

Good luck!

Alan
